Why use a CD Ripper Service?
The CD Ripping process is a slow and boring one. On average, a single song will take between 4-6 minutes to convert from CD to digital MP3 or similar. The average CD collection is 250 CDs. This translates into a conversion process that will take YOU 20 hours. That's 20 solid hours of doing nothing else - and who's going to do that? In addition you then need to organize the ID tags for the songs and albums. It's far from an automated process.
However, Rip2iPod uses state-of-the-art automated CD Ripper equipment for continuous, professional digital archive with advanced software features for automated ID tagging and meta data organization and album artwork association. We are the experts, let us do the heavy lifting.
Is it legal?
Yes, absolutely. Rip2iPod follows all copyright laws and if you have purchased a music CD it's your right to make a digital archive of it. We will make a digital copy of the source CD and return both items for your keeping. In the event a CD is copyright protected, we do not have the ability to break the copyright code and extract the content for digital conversion. In the event a CD-R slipped into the pile, this too will not be converted.
Can you make compilation CDs?
Great idea, but no. Our CD Ripper service is focused on converting original CDs to digital files which reflect an exact copy of the original content. However, our process does make it infinitely easier for you to create a compilation album in the comfort of your own home.

Which file format should I choose?
This all depends, but the general user will select MP3 because this file format plays well with software such as iTunes, is recognized by all MP3 players (including iPods) and provides the best quality to file size ratio. AAC is the native format for Apple products, but not necessary for playback. By using AAC, this will [most likely] limit the play back ability to just Apple products. WMA is the native format for Microsoft and their network of products. Most MP3 players will also playback WMA files.
Bitrate - what is that again?
Bitrate is the terminology used to describe the quality of sound for a digital file. The higher the number, the better the bitrate - the better the bitrate the more storage space it takes on your MP3 player. This clearly shows you there is a trade-off between sound quality and available storage. The typical bitrate is either 128kbps or 192kbps and the higher bitrates of 256kbps and 320kbps take up larger amounts of storage space. (kbps = kilo bits per second)
How does Rip2iPod organize my CD collection?
This is called meta data. The process we use for meta data organization is standardized and cross referenced with several different on-line databases. These databases are industry standard for organization of ID3 tags (artist, song title, album title, genre etc), track lists and album artwork. By using standardized methods you get a more consistent library that is well organized, easy to understand and navigate which ultimately provides you a great listening experience.
There is no reason for you to reinvent the wheel on this one - let our meta data process organize your CD collection. Note: It is possible some CDs do not have album artwork and therefore will not be included.
How do I know if MP3s work with iTunes and iPods?
Because we told you! Yes, the MP3 format works with all Apple products and software. In fact, MP3 was the original digital audio format and is therefore playable on all music devices. The MP3 format is what Rip2iPod recommends. We say this because whether you have an iPod today, or will have one tomorrow, an MP3 file will always be playable on your personal music device.
How do I know all my CDs where ripped?
CD Ripping is our business - of course we will rip all your CDs! However, to leave no stone unturned, we provide a full list of the CDs we ripped from your CD collection. Our list will equal the same number of CDs you shipped. In the event a CD was in poor quality and not rippable [is that a word?] Rip2iPod will let you know.
Our initial inspection of your package will also confirm the number of CDs sent, so if there was a shortage [by mistake] between your order request and received CDs, you will be notified immediately.
Delivery and Shipping
Rip2iPod provides you all the supplies and packaging to safely transport your CD collection to our facility. You simply place your individual CDs into our CD spindles (100 per spindle) and ship your collection (without jewel case) for digital conversion and archive. All shipments are insured at $10 per CD.
Depending on order size, Rip2iPod will use either UPS or FedEx for transporting your discs from each location.
How long does the process take?
This all depends on your CD collection. For the average sized order (250 CDs) the turn around time is 3 days from receipt of your collection.
